Gas Cooktop Burner Wouldn't Light
One burner on a gas cooktop wouldn't ignite while the others worked fine, usually a clogged port or a weak igniter module.
The Call
Single burner not lighting, clicking sound present but no flame. Other burners on the same cooktop working normally.
On-Site Diagnosis
Pulled the burner cap and base to inspect the port directly. Found it partially blocked with a mix of grease residue and mineral deposits, a common combination in kitchens with hard water and regular cooking spatter.
The Repair
Cleared the burner port, cleaned the igniter electrode gap to spec, and tested spark consistency across all burner positions, not just the one that failed.
Verified Fixed
Consistent ignition on the first click across all burners. Flagged the buildup pattern so the owner knows what to watch for on the others down the line.
A single dead burner on an otherwise-working cooktop is almost always a clogged port or a local igniter issue, not a reason to worry about the whole unit.
